What do they do?
Interns with the East High Youth Farm assist in teaching high school youth about organic farming in the classroom, in the greenhouse, and on the farm.
Interns are involved in many aspects of the program including:
- teaching youth about organic farming
- assisting in the greenhouse and classroom
- all of the tasks associated with running a farm
- seeding
- planting
- transplanting
- watering
- building the soil
- harvesting
- weeding
- cleaning, packing and delivering vegetables to the food pantry
- leading and supervising volunteer work crews of adults and teens
- assisting Program Manager in program oversight and development of activities
