The
Farm and CSA
Established
in 2001 as Madison's first urban farm, Troy Community Farm occupies 5
acres of the Troy site. The core of the farm is the CSA
(Community Supported Agriculture). Farm members receive fresh,
locally grown, organic produce each week for 21 weeks, beginning in June
and ending in late October. Through the CSA, members learn to enjoy -
and appreciate the quirks of - Wisconsin seasonal food production. With
the vegetables, members receive the weekly farm newsletter Urban Roots,
which contains food preparation ideas, stories from the farm, and notes
about what to expect in coming weeks.
Anyone
can enjoy Troy Farm's locally-grown produce by visiting the Troy
Farm Stand. The Farm Stand is located at the front of Troy Gardens
on the 500 block of Troy Drive, is open Thursday afternoons from 4 - 6
pm from June through October.
Also find
Troy Farm produce at the Northside Farmers Market at
Sherman Plaza at the corner of N. Sherman Ave and Nortport Dr. This market
runs every Sunday, May through October from 9am to 12 noon.
Sprouts
are a new venture for the farm and are currently available at the Williamson
Street Grocery Co-op (at 1221 Williamson Street.)
Our sprout line includes mung beans, legume mixes, and mixes with
alfalfa and clover sprouts.
